This bronze figure portrays the traditional woman deep sea diver from the northern Pacific islands of Japan. It shows her grace and strength of will and reflects the deep respect these divers evoke among their own people and from people around the world.

Although the woman's gesture is focused and determined, this work evokes a sense of peaceful and tranquil motion.

In stark contrast, a moray eel lends a sense of risk as it ascends just before her.

"Ama-San" is placed on a solid dark walnut turntable and black marble base so that she can be viewed in the round.
