Sharyn Lewis is impassioned with the sculptural
medium. She finds working in the third dimension exciting, dynamic and
challenging. She sculpts in clay, wax and stone. Sharyn draws
inspiration, as well, from less traditional mediums - yet it is the
great strength of bronze that best embodies her final vision. Travel
is another life long passion that continues to lend inspiration and new
insight to Sharyn’s ever evolving artistic vision. Having lived
overseas, she has traveled much of the world exploring diverse cultures
and lands; finding both the nature of man and the natural environment to
be an endless source of inspiration. Sharyn’s artistic beginnings were
in the commercial field of graphic design. Ultimately, though, it is the
intriguing art of sculpture that she first experienced during her
travels to West Africa that is her chosen medium today. Sharyn has
continued a life of artistic study both formal and inspired, yet she
remains, for the most part, a self-taught sculptor. Sharyn maintains an
artist studio in her home-town of Monterey, California, whereby, the
world as well as the nature of man, continues to engage, motivate and
enlarge her creative capacity.
