The seals I have chosen for my most recent sculpture are a pair of juvenile harbor seals. They are lighter in weight and slimmer than their hefty, nearly half ton, adult parents. Harbor seals are in the family of pinnipeds, or better known as the earless seals.

Near my home at Monterey Bay, as I walk along the harbor, I can recognize some ever curious harbor seals and I wonder who is really observing whom? Their expressions are priceless and have given me endless moments of joy and laughter. Although, many phocid species have a annual migration, harbor seals rarely leave their home range. One can observe a family of harbor seals for generations, getting to know an individual seal's activities and character easily.

"The Harbor Seals" is cast and welded bronze on a black walnut and marble base. Note: this sculpture is available with or with the base. Please indicate your preference when ordering.
